    Annual Health Exams

Our goal at Faircrest Veterinary Care is to identify problems as early as possible (ideally, before they happen) so that we have a better chance of giving your pet a longer, healthier life. We perform a thorough annual physical exam for your pet, while trying to minimize the stress of the visit for both the pet and owner. If a pet is fearful, we will try to prioritize the exam to best suit the pet and the situation.

    Preventative Care

We treat your pet as an individual and we will work with you to identify which vaccinations, preventatives and other screening tests are best suited to maintaining the health and happiness of your pet.

    Urgent Care

Dr. Mason has extensive experience in emergency medicine. Daily openings are reserved in our schedule for pets that need to be seen immediately. For these visits, we offer the option to stay with your pet for their appointment or to admit them to the clinic for the day.

    Puppy and Kitten

New pet ownership comes with a lot of new responsibility and questions about your pet’s care. We will help you with your new family member by performing a thorough exam, discussing their individual needs, and answering any and all questions or concerns you have. Young animals often need to have several visits to meet their growth and vaccination needs.

    Dentistry

We offer comprehensive dental care including teeth cleaning using ultrasonic and hand scalers, teeth polishing, and digital dental x-rays to identify disease below the gum line. When an extraction is needed, we take care to provide the best analgesia possible with a local numbing nerve block and other pain medication.

    Surgery

We have full surgical capabilities at Faircrest Veterinary Care. Each pet is given an individual assessment before undergoing anesthesia, including a full physical exam and pre-anesthetic blood work. We customize an individualized anesthetic plan for each pet, using safe medications and intensive monitoring during anesthesia. Our monitoring parameters include blood pressure, heart rate, respirations, electrocardiography (ECG), body temperature, oxygen saturation, and capnography (end-tidal CO2 levels).

    Laparoscopic Surgery

Laparoscopic surgery is a minimally-invasive technique using a camera and instruments placed into the abdomen through small incisions. This is most commonly used at our clinic for spay procedures for large dogs, and gastropexy (i.e. stomach tacking) procedure to prevent gastric dilation and volvulus (i.e. GDV or “bloat”). These procedures are performed by Dr. Keith Gunby of Veterinary Laparoscopic Services, LLC, who can travel to our clinic to perform the surgeries.

    Ultrasound

Dr. Mason can utilize ultrasound on patients in the clinic by performing a “Point of Care Ultrasound” (POCUS). This is often used in an emergency setting with a pet that has experienced trauma or that may have fluid in the chest or abdominal cavities for other reasons. A more advanced ultrasound exam can be performed by a veterinary specialist to identify more subtle signs of disease in the chest or abdomen. This diagnostic test, as well as an echocardiogram (i.e. ultrasound of the heart), can be performed at Faircrest Veterinary Care by a traveling veterinary specialist.

    Humane Euthanasia

Making end-of-life decisions for your pet is difficult but we are here to help you with any questions at any time. If you decide that the time has come to have your pet put to sleep, you can be present or not present for any or all of the process. We work closely with a cremation service, called Memorial Pet Services. They are a wonderful group who treat pets as if they are their own; with dignity and respect. We can give you more information on cremation options, or you can visit their website.
